[Lavellan raises an eyebrow, his only concession to being surprised. He doesn't like being caught off guard at the best of times, and that stubbornly persists even wen the people around him can literally read his feelings.

Chances are, what Sam wants with him is harmless, but he still doesn't like the uncertainty. It's odd; almost like the deeper intimacy makes him less inclined to be open with them all. He feels almost paranoid around them, now.]

Something for me. [He intones.] Nothing too unpleasant, I hope.

Don't sound so excited. [ He's teasing, but also geez, Lavellan, lighten up.

Still, he does get not enjoying being caught off guard, especially in a place like this - they've probably all had enough unpleasant surprises and uncertainty to last a while, and Sam's practical enough to know it's not like they're gonna stop - so he sets down the pile of decorations he'd been carrying to pull out a box with a bow. ]

It's a Christmas present. It's a holiday back home, kind of a winter solstice thing. You get together with friends and family and exchange gifts, have a big dinner, go to parties, that kind of thing.

[Recognition dawns.] Oh. Wintersend. We have much the same, though without the gift giving. Everything in our clan already belonged to everyone else.

[Then he looks down, sheepish.]

I don't have anything for you. I'm sorry. [And he means it: he does consider Sam a friend, and wouldn't want Sam to think otherwise.]
