JOHN MURPHY
When he's actually fully walling his mind off, it's ice, solid and flawlessly smooth.AGE: 17
HEIGHT/STATURE: 5'7" | 175cm
WEIGHT/BUILD: Lean, narrow, sharp-edged. He has some muscle but he basically looks like he'd slip into "scrawny" if he missed two meals

VISION
The best way to describe how Murphy holds himself is "casual". His posture's good, but he will let his shoulders slouch, lean against things, and put his hands in his pockets a lot. Despite this seeming perpetual nonchalance, he is very rarely still. He gestures, he shrugs, he kind of loosely fidgets, and all-in-all tends to talk with his whole body.
Clothing wise he has a reasonably wide wardrobe acquired in Concordia. Mostly dark colours, usually more hard-wearing fabrics for pants but softer shirts. A few sweaters, a couple of hoodies. He still wears his Ark boots, though he has a couple of other pairs to supplement. His favourite long-sleeved shirts/hoodies have thumb holes cut into them.
He has faint scarring scattered across his entire body, but mostly his chest/torso and arms. There are some deeper marks down his right shoulder and across his back, and a particularly nasty puncture scar on his left thigh.
His hair was entirely shaved off in Concordia as part of a failed attempt to have his symbiote removed, and is currently in an awkward growing out stage, roughly 4.5cm. He is dealing with this by ignoring it/covering it.
On Hyrypia his robes are layers of charcoal and dark blue, and he added a couple of lengths of fabric as scarves to the veil situation once he found out they were going into the desert. He's wearing a charm on a piece of cord, under his robes, either around his wrist or his neck depending on the day.
SOUND
His voice is about medium depth and fairly warm, with a generic US accent. His casual manner extends to how he speaks, with him tending to nonchalant but dry tones, usually varying across sardonic, sarcastic, derisive to bitter. Sometimes it's a borderline Draco Malfoy drawl. EXAMPLE 1, EXAMPLE 2. When he's actually intent on making a point he'll be a lot more direct, and go more sharp-edged when pissed.
He sticks to mostly casual (again) ways of speaking, using simplistic vocab and scattering in plenty of mild curses. He'll also come up with his own ways to refer to things, especially if he's being irreverent or dislikes them in some way (see: brain bugs). All of this said, he does actually have a fairly extensive vocabulary and can pull out more complex words when the situation calls for them, but it's kind of a matter of confidence, as he's undereducated and has learnt a lot contextually rather than formally.
Most of the time he's the snarky commentary, very quick draw with the scathing remarks, and he tends to earn a hell of a lot of "shut up, murphy"s because of this. But he's actually a really good communicator, and when he wants someone to listen to him, he's very good at getting them to do so and at making his point clearly and succinctly. EXAMPLE (cw: torture)
Lastly, despite all the "shut up, murphy"s in the world, he doesn't. He basically always has something to say, and if he isn't talking, then it's likely because there's something even he perceives as a danger going on.
SCENT
Clean. When on the station he showers twice daily, uses some fancy toiletries he picked up in Concordia (either scentless or mildly scented - he tried some smellier stuff but found being stuck with it all day gave him headaches). I'm not sure what the bathing facilities are for this mission, but he definitely uses them regularly. Gotta love those lingering post-apocalyptic world survivor issues!
MIND
Murphy's mind is always walled, but his walls are porous and permeable. He doesn't see any point in hiding everything when he's interacting with others, so regular, "surface level" things come through. This in turn makes it easier on him to hide the things he actually wants to, but also means someone really paying attention will be able to pick up when he's doing that.
His ability to empathise with people comes through kind of literally with his mind, in that when he's interacting with someone and they remember or feel something that he's experienced similar of, that reflection will get dragged up in his mind pretty uncontrollably.
As for textures and visuals, the stuff from his info post stands true:
MISC.
He gets bored and restless easily - this is pretty easily remedied on mission, where he just pokes his nose in places or chats with the locals. On the station it's less easy, so he'll be find exploring a lot, cooking, running laps with Bellamy, following Cathaway around, pretty much anything to keep himself distracted. He's also practically constantly snacking on something, and on the mission he's spending a fair deal of time in the kitchens/kitchen tents. And he has nightmares almost every night, and though they don't tend to wake him up, they definitely leak.
