We can't describe everything about our characters in every tag we write, and icons can only do so much, so here's the chance to fill in any details lost between the lines!

MATRIM CAUTHON AGE: 20 HEIGHT/STATURE: 5'11" WEIGHT/BUILD: Fit but lean/lanky (165ish lbs) GENDER: Male RELATIONSHIP STATUS: Complicated, sometimes dtf. HAIR: Light brown EYES: Brown (ignore pb ty) ORIGIN: Weird medieval-ish future/past Earth LANGUAGE: New Tongue (basically English) & Old Tongue (wannabe Elvish) VISION Mat's posture is usually confident and laid-back, and you'd be hard pressed to catch him looking particularly formal. His go-to coat is green and is worse for wear, either from general use or getting nicked in fights. He also likes to wear a broad-rimmed hat (whenever it's practical) and wears a black scarf around his neck (even when it isn't practical — if it's hot out, if he's shirtless, whenever). Underneath the scarf there's an ugly rope-burn scar around his neck that he likes to keep covered. He has several other scars scattered over his arms and torso that aren't super noteworthy, but it's obvious he's been in plenty of fights. He almost always wears a silver fox-head medallion on a chain around his neck, and he has a silver ring that features a tiny fox figure chasing two ravens. In situations where it's remotely reasonable for him to carry large weapons around, he has a black-shafted polearm with some fancy fantasy script on the sides that he keeps close. SOUND The region he's from is supposed to have a generic English accent, though his hometown in particular skews much more rural. Mat speaks super informally and curses every other word (please teach him more modern curses). He tends to be very direct and rude in a way that's more irreverent than aggressive. Otherwise he's very emotive. Although he's been lowkey hostile since his arrival, once he settles down he'll be more prone adopting a lighthearted and theoretically charming demeanor. SCENT Before coming here, he either spent his time being semi-spoiled in a castle or camping for weeks on end. No artificial fragrances, though the scent of tobacco might cling to his coat. Now that he's got access to clean water and whatever he probably keeps up just fine with hygiene and won't smell like a medieval farmer (hopefully). MIND Mat's mind feels like a strong current, loud and sometimes overwhelming. It's also disorganized; there are strange gaps and dark spots all over his memories, and the memories themselves are often anachronistic or conflicting — different voices, points of view, and even personalities. These differences won't necessarily feel jarring. They're oddly muffled and have a strange cohesion to them, like different streams flowing into one river. Mat's mind has been opened up and ransacked before, and afterwards it was never quite put back together. Because of this his walls are basically non-existent. Resistance might feel like a bristling or a discomfort, but it won't keep anyone out. Paranoia, defensiveness, stubbornness and biting grief. The sensation of a rope scratching at your neck and an ice-cold metal against your chest. Memories of a farm, and treasure, and of a dead city in the middle of a desert. He thinks frequently of his sisters, trying to remember what they look like; their faces remain jarringly empty. A disorienting lack of time and a feeling of repetition or deja vu. Cluttered memories of battlefields and tactics. Dying by arrows, by sword, by drowning, hundreds of ways and always in a different time and place, all passing like uncomfortable afterthoughts. The sound of dice rattling. During the current mission, his thoughts will linger on a city called Rhuidean, the memory of walking through a redstone doorway standing in the middle of a desert, and a tree and a rope. The locals remind him strongly of supernatural beings he's encountered back home: tall, lean humanoids whose features are stretched and sharp, resembling either snakes or foxes. He hates them a lot. He also hates being in a desert and hanging out with aliens. MISC. Whenever he isn't being dragged somewhere or has decided it's in his best interest to get off his ass, Mat will almost always be slacking off hardcore. This means drinking, gambling, eating or napping. Luckily, he isn't always a loud drunk fool, so most of the time he can have fun without creating a scene.
