Because... people used to have to endure it. I used to be valuable enough that people would endure how I treated them. I was necessary.

No, it didn't make me feel better. It didn't make me feel anything. The person who trained me said it was my due as their superior. I suspect now it was to keep me isolated from others.

Yeah, well, get used to it.

Some of them. But I'm pretty sure you weren't taught to be miserable to people from infancy.

You're right. It was probably from when I was around one year old.

Or maybe you've just never made an actual effort to actually try and be a better person.

I fought against the Empire, saved countless lives, rescued people from torture and death. But I suppose that doesn't count because I don't take the precious time to pad out your ego?

[greentech]

It's not about ego, it's about respect! Just because you help someone doesn't mean they're going to be grateful when you whip out your oh-so-superior act. My friends and I are all involved in doing that - fighting an evil empire, saving people - and somehow we still manage to be nice to each other and the people we're saving.

Respect has nothing to do with it. If I respect someone, I tell them their weaknesses instead of taking advantage of them. I follow their orders because they're right, not because I want to play nice. If I knew your feelings were so easily hurt, I'd have shown restraint, but that wouldn't have been out of respect.

You realize you can do all of that without talking down to people, right? Or is it too much effort?

It sounds like you just want to be able to insult everyone and still be treated like you're somehow still on the same team. That's not how it works.

Clearly you've never worked in the organizations I have. That is exactly how it works.

Your organizations sound like they're full of idiots.
