[ It is what rips through him the most. We don't know. He can understand the need for survival, but only fighting against what is trying to kill you without trying to understand its origin is mindless to him. Oh, he knows all about having to fend for yourself, that is what kept him alive in his world, and dumb luck too. But it wasn't enough to eat, sleep, kill, repeat. He had to go the extra mile. He had to find out why and how it had happened. And after that day, the motivation to find a cure became even more personal.

And it doesn't matter if his disease is, to them, a simple equation, because for him, giving up a virus to just fall into another kind of hive-mind mentality is not solving a problem at all. They are too close to each other. The loss of self. The will of the collective, not yours. Even if one is all about being some kind of hippie community and the other is violence and hunger. To be fair, he doesn't know which is worse.

So, he just scoffs.

And you accept that? [ Almost as if mocking him, hard stare. ] How long have you been here again? Have you ever tried to learn for yourself? Or you just listen to them?

[ Whoever they are, his tone implies. ]
